Translation

O best of the Kuru warriors, no one before you has ever seen this universal form of Mine, for neither by studying the Vedas, nor by performing sacrifices, nor by charity, nor by pious activities, nor by severe penances can I be seen in this form in the material world.

Understand it

What this verse is saying, and where it sits in the story.

Devotion and Divine Vision

  1. 1Kṛṣṇa says no one before Arjuna had seen this universal form. Vedic study, sacrifices, charity, pious acts, and severe penances cannot reveal it.
  2. 2Prabhupāda explains that divine vision requires pure devotion to Kṛṣṇa, though pure devotees are not very interested in seeing the universal form.
  3. 3Follow Bhagavad-gītā’s teachings and develop devotion to Kṛṣṇa rather than accept false claims about incarnations.
